PATROL HIRING EVENT

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a physical test for the position of Probationary Officer – Patrol. All candidates must meet the ILEA Exit Standards in order to be eligible to take the written exam.
You will receive an email with further instructions once your application has been received. You will need to reply to the email in order to be added to the testing rosters. Space is limited.
The Physical testing will take place on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 6pm-8pm.
Candidates need to submit an application. Applicants will be assessed using the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy exit standards, a handcuff dummy drag test, a handgun manipulation test, and a fine motor skills test. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and a college degree is preferred but not required. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. Candidates selected for the position must live within Elkhart County or any township that adjoins Elkhart County by date of hire.
All applicants who pass the physical test will take the written exam at a later date in the large training room located on the south side of the Administration Building at 26861 CR 26, Elkhart, IN 46517. The cost of the test is $15.00. Bring the exact amount – we will not make change.
All applicants who pass both the physical and written tests will be scheduled for interviews at a later date and will be notified by email.
